The National kit Car Festival Newark 2010

Another excellent weekend, even the weather was in our favour for a change.
It was good to meet up again with friends from RHOCaR and the Luego owners club. And to see so many of our members present over the weekend. Dominic’s friend Dave let it out of the bag that Dominic is setting himself up to start camping with us in the future. It was also great to finally meet up with Alan and Josh.

This year is the 27th show. This is a fantastic show. The festival is both an indoor and outdoor show. The main focus as always will be the superb stands in the main hall where the major kit car manufacturers display their many individual and exciting cars. There was everything from three-wheeled cars, utility vehicles, two or four seater sports cars and super cars, something to suit everyone.

We attended the show on the Saturday morning and a few of us camped over. We enjoyed a BBQ and a few beers on the Saturday evening returning home on the Sunday afternoon.

Those present.
Mike Shearing, Paul& Maria Taylor, Bob Rowell, Allan & Josh Murfit, Chris Clarke.
Dominic Eaves, Dave Dickerson and Sarah, Dan & Emma Robertson, Geoff Wilkins, Melvyn Best, Derek & Marilyn Overfield And Me.

                                                                                                    Sorry if I missed you.

The National kit Car Festival Newark 2009

It was that time again for the national kit car festival at Newark.
Keeping it short and sweet a few of us camped Saturday night and a few just visited for the day, some on Saturday and some on Sunday. The weather was cold and windy on Saturday (no change there then) and started the same Sunday but ended up very pleasant although the wind was still fairly strong. The show was pretty much its normal self but the weather certainly makes a difference with loads more cars and visitors to the show on Sunday.
Roll on next year.

Those that attended.
Martin Pidd, Paul & Maria Taylor, Dominic Eaves & Dave, Richard Burton, Dan,  Emma & Rosie Robertson,   Dave Dickerson and Sarah, Geoff Wilkins, Melvyn Best, Dean & Lucy Welch, Michael & Diana Biddle, Simon Morris, Derek & Marilyn Overfield,  Mike & Lorraine Shearing, Andy & Michaela Petrie, Chris Clarke, Trevor Woodham, Matt Tansley.

I think that was it, Sorry if I missed you.

The National kit Car Festival Newark 2008

A few of us from the club were present at the show all weekend. I had very little sleep due to the strong wind that demolished nearly every Gazebo present. I spent nearly all night getting up and re staking ours

The National kit Car Festival Newark 2007

This year we camped at the show with the Luego Owners club. All were made to feel welcome even those with none Luego cars.

One of the highlights of the show was the Viento being built using a Dodge viper engine, the owner kept starting it and attracting a lot of attention.

The National kit Car Festival Newark 2005

As Danny had such a good time at the area club BBQ, he started the next day asking if he could come along to

the National kit car show at Newark.

I thought this would be a good idea as I would probably be the only Easthood camping this year.
We left home at 8am to meet Peter and Gerry at West Lynn travel lodge at 9.

We travelled along the A17 to arrive at the show for 10.30.

I left to go and erect the gazebo and tent followed by lunch. My car was on the club stand by 12.30.

The RHOCAR stand this year was in a more central position than normal.

There was a new exhibition hall built and this housed the manufacturers of cars and a
few trade stands. The remaining trade stands where housed outside.

The weather was, dare I say too hot. But the show was great; however there was a
lack of some of the normal trade and kit suppliers.

I was told that there were 60 Hoods present on Saturday (I'm sure that in the past there
have been 120) Graham Dockerill arrived to join me at 11am.
I also had a chat with  Sue and Roy who had travelled to the show in their tin top

After Saturday’s tour was over we returned to the camp site (the same one as last year)
and as normal the fun and frolics began, we were joined by Swan, Andy Barbet, John Tween, and And Stephen Altwasser.

Graham again had a dodgy piece of equipment in the way of a gas stove that didn’t cook.

We had a few beers a walk around the show ground and then a few more beers,
some very nice caramelized bananas courtesy of Stephen.

Graham found his way to the pavilion bar to be entertained by a Robin Williams impersonator or not as the case was.

How he found his way back the tents is a surprise.

We retired to bed at approximately 00.30, I got up at 6.00 and started breakfast much to Graham’s disgust.

Sorry Graham I didn’t realize that frying sausages could be so noisy.

After taking the tents and gazebo down we made our way to the RHOCAR
stand Bob Rowell was there waiting for us. This started another very hot day of touring the show.

Again there was a very good turnout of Hoods, but less than Saturday I would say.

RHOCAR won the award for best attended club stand, and as per normal the award was presented by Miss Newark.

We headed home at 1.30 pm and had an uneventful return journey in the hottest of conditions.

Just outside Munford I stopped to fill up with fuel, and a couple started to tell me that they had just returned from the show, they had seen           my car there, taken down the details of the club and are planning the build of a Robin Hood lightweight. (Could be interesting)

Thanks to all those that attended the show, and the SG7 boys for joining us to make the weekend that bit better.

Danny’s asking about next year already

Those present.

Its surprizing what beer can make one do.
